The oximeter stands as a pivotal tool in the realm of healthcare, proving invaluable for both medical professionals and individuals engaged in personal health monitoring. This compact device serves the crucial function of measuring the percentage of oxygen in the blood, along with pulse and heart rate assessments. Leveraging the capabilities of the IndusBoard, a remarkably compact development board measuring only 3cm in size, we can seamlessly engineer a portable oximeter, providing swift and accurate readings of heart rate and blood oxygen levels. The portability of the IndusBoard, coupled with its versatility, makes it an ideal candidate for creating a user-friendly and compact oximeter.

The IndusBoard distinguishes itself by featuring two I2C ports, a design feature that facilitates the simultaneous interfacing of multiple sensors, OLEDs, and I2C modules. This capability enhances the device’s adaptability for various applications, ensuring comprehensive health monitoring. The I2C pins on the IndusBoard can be configured as either hardware I2C or software I2C, offering flexibility in the implementation of the project.

Specifically, for the IndusBoard, GPIO pins 8 and 9 are designated for hardware I2C. To establish the necessary connections, link the SCL and SDA pins of both the OLED and MAX30100 sensor to the corresponding SCL and SDA pins on the IndusBoard. Power the MAX30100 sensor using the 3V pin and ground it with the GND pin on the IndusBoard. Simultaneously, power the OLED by connecting it to the 5V pin on the IndusBoard.

This meticulous connection scheme ensures seamless communication between the IndusBoard, the OLED display, and the MAX30100 sensor, allowing for the effective functioning of the portable oximeter. By combining the power of the IndusBoard’s compact design with the accuracy of the MAX30100 sensor, individuals can embark on a health monitoring journey that is not only efficient but also highly portable. As a result, this project demonstrates how technological innovation, particularly utilizing the IndusBoard, can contribute to accessible and user-friendly healthcare solutions for daily use.
