Compact and discreet surveillance solutions are in high demand for applications like home security, baby monitoring, and wearable tech. Traditional cameras are often bulky, power-hungry, or require complex network setups, limiting their use in small or portable devices.
This project uses the IndusBoard Coin V2 (3.3 cm ESP32-S2 board) combined with the OV2640 camera module to create a tiny Wi-Fi-based spy camera. The system hosts a web server on the board, streaming real-time video directly to any connected device. Its compact form factor, low power requirements, and independent AP mode make it ideal for portable and discreet monitoring.
Key Features
- Ultra-compact design (3.3 cm board) suitable for hidden or wearable deployment
- Live video streaming over Wi-Fi via onboard web server
- Camera supports multiple pixel formats: JPEG, YUV422, RGB565, Grayscale
- Operates in AP mode (standalone Wi-Fi network) or STA mode (connects to existing network)
- Simple, integrated web interface for live monitoring
- Uses minimal power, enabling battery operation
Applications
- Home security and room monitoring
- Baby or pet monitoring
- Wearable spy cameras or body-worn devices
- IoT-based embedded vision projects
- Small-space surveillance in offices, labs, or workshops
This project demonstrates how a compact, low-power development board like the IndusBoard Coin V2, paired with an OV2640 camera, can deliver real-time video streaming in a miniature form factor. It offers a cost-effective, portable, and flexible solution for surveillance, monitoring, and embedded vision applications.
